No irritation
Been using this for a few weeks now and have had no irritation or dry patches even from the beginning. I use it over cerave moisturiser as the last step in my routine, which is said to reduce irritation without making it less effective. I use it every other night, alternating with the ordinary's Azelaic acid. I did go through a brief "purging" stage where I had minor breakouts on my forehead and chin, however this only lasted three weeks. I haven't been using it long enough to notice reductions on fine lines or pigmentation, however I feel it's definitely a good addition to my skincare routine and a good "starter" retinoid for younger skins.

Clearest skin of my life!
I cannot praise this product enough. I’ve had closed comedones largely on my forehead and temples since I can remember. I introduced this product 3-4 times per week in the evening after using a gentle cleanser, alternating with the ordinary AHA & BHA once a week (you cannot use these on the same day as they are too harsh in combination!). I am blown away with how fast my comedones cleared up, how soft and glowy my skin is. I have also continued using 5% benzoyl peroxide which I have used for the past 3 years with moderate improvement, but in combination with this my skin has massively cleared. I only wish I had used this sooner as now I feel no need for foundation!!

Seems to have made a difference!
I’d been looking at The Ordinary products for a while and was undecided which one to get as I think the descriptions are quite confusing. I finally opted for this and I’m glad I did - I think it’s made a difference especially to quite deep forehead wrinkles although I started using it at the same time as I did Aldi’s Q10 night cream which is also fab. I wish I had maybe ordered the 5% retinol version though as my skin hasn’t had any adverse reaction to the 2% (although I don’t have sensitive skin generally). Great price, lovely quality packaging. Will buy again. Only reason I haven’t given it 5 stars as it hasn’t made me look 10 years younger but I guess that was wishful thinking ;)

Great product
I bought this a few weeks ago and thought I would give it time before I reviewed it. It has really made a difference to my skin. My face is firmer and the open pores on my nose are less obvious. I don't know if it has made a difference to my wrinkles, at 58 that's maybe asking too much, but my skin definitely looks and feels better and smoother.
I will keep using it, and buy again. Great value too, a little goes a long way and it lasts for ages.

Well I bought this expecting the usual nothing. But I have to say there is a definite improvement in my skin and wrinkles. The wrinkles don't appear to be as deep and my skin overall looks fresher. I'm impressed

just Retinoid
As with all Retinol products ease yourself in gently and you should be just fine. I had a tiny bit of dryness after the first use and nothing after that. Layer Rosehip Oil and Squalane over it to give some added moisture.

So Far so Good
Really to early to give a true review, I have used it every night so far and I like it very much! I will keep using it and I will Reorder. I have also put some on my nails which have ridges in them and now have smoothed out!! Happy about that!

Personally, I wouldn't recommend using this on your stretch marks as you won't gain much benefit, however using Rose Hip Oil/Rose Hip Seed Oil on stretchmarks (new and old) has been proven to reduce and improve the appearance of them.

The Ordinary Advanced Granactive Retinoid 2% Emulsion 30ml shoud never be used around the eye area as it contains retinoids.
You should never put retinoids/ retinol near the eyes as this is a concentrated form of vitamin c. Vitamin c is a natural and potent exfoliant and the skin around your eyes is very delicate and thin.

Retinol contains a lower concentration than retinoid, if you have sensitive skin, I would recommend a retinoid as it can be less irritating.

Does this help with facial scarring e.g. acne scars?

The Ordinary Advanced Granactive Retinoid 2% Emulsion is really recommended for anti aging. However, it has additional benefits, when spread on the skin, retinoids can unclog pores, allowing other medicated creams and gels to work better. They also reduce acne outbreaks by preventing dead cells from clogging pores. Retinoid helps with cell renewal which can reduce the visibility of scars.
When using a retinoid, we always recommend applying in the evening, and introduce gradually 3 times a week. Always use an SPF during the day.
