Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great oil cleanse I used this as the first step when double cleanse, which is maybe 2 nights a week. You could definitely use this as a double cleanse every time you wash your face if you wanted, I double cleanse less frequently because I don't wear makeup and more feels like overkill. I guess I use this sort of like a cleansing mask... apply to dry skin and massage for a few minutes, let it sit for about 10 minutes, then massage again for a few minutes before rising off. My skin feels great after. It emulsifies and rinses off easily compared to many other oil cleansers that I've tried, but you do still need to use a second cleanse after.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wanted to switch up my skincare brand After developing spots from wearing mask/ feeling like my usually cleanser was no longer doing the job, I saw a sponsor on Instagram for this brand. I have sensitive skin so Im always reluctant to trying new things, however at this price point I was happy to give it a try....and honesty do not regret it. Im very into skincare routine, and this brand actually recommends when to used the products (AM or PM) and what's good to pair it with. Currently at night I will sometimes double cleanse along with INKEY Salicylic Acid Cleanser. I've got 6 of their products from their range and its sorting my skin right back to normal.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Truly excellent product in disappointing packaging. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I do not think I ever used such a great cleanser. Gentle, yet efficiently removing so much, so easily. I now cannot manage without it! However, did not give 5 stars, although I would really have liked to, but the packaging lets it down. When your hands are wet, it's hard to squeeze and to get just the right amount out. As it gets low, it's even harder to get it out - it takes two hands and so then, where are you going to squeeze it. I have problems with my hands and this makes all that worse. And of course, finally, plastic...hmmm. Way too much of that in general Inkey, otherwise you are fab and deliver the goods.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Overall, underwhelmed. I usually use solid cleaning balms but my usual one was out of stock so thought I’d give this one a go as I use other Inky List products and love them. First time i used it, it had separated really badly, thought it might just need a really good shake. Tried it again the next day this time shaking really well before using it and again it came out as a yellow oil with solid balm lumps... Mine also has gritty textured bits in it, I’m not sure if it’s meant to but there is no mention of a physical exfoliate in the product. I’ll probably go back to my usual solid balms as the gritty texture does not feel great on my skin.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Unfortunately doesn’t remove makeup I thought I’d love this product for step 1 double cleansing. I’ve given it more than a fair shot- used every day for 5 weeks straight following exact directions. Barely budges waterproof mascara, Its OK at removing face makeup but impossible to wash off without a facecloth. If you're considering this product for makeup removal I wouldn’t recommend it. A micellar water or the elf cleansing balm do a much better job. I wish I could say I saw other benefits from the cleansing balm but it really does absolutely nothing for me but make my night routine more complicated. I always follow up with the salicylic cleanser that I do like and actually leaves my face feeling clean.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works amazing as a first cleanse I absolutely love this balm, it’s amazing at taking off makeup & I’ve only used it twice. I use this as the first step in my double cleanse & it literally does melt makeup away. I suffer with oily-combination skin that’s very sensitive & prone to pimples, & my skin gets pretty irritated or stripped by most cleansers/makeup removers. This is lovely, I love the texture & it leaves my face completely clean of all makeup (I wear pretty heavy makeup). It hadn’t broken me out & literally leaves my skin smooth and glowing after use. Also I notice a lot of people have had problem washing it off, a soft washcloth run under warm water removes it well for me. Would really recommend

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Cleanser Ever I have repurchased this item 6times now! I was looking to find something that could replace my make-up remover and cotton pads , to go for a more eco-friendly and most importantly more face gentle product. Having skin on the drier side, I was opting for something that wouldn’t leave my skin feeling dry and tight after use and this product does exactly that. My skin feels moisturised and soft after use, I’ve had Clear skin for over a year simply using this product followed by a BHA exfoliant every now and then and a gentle layer of moisturiser! Really recommend this product to anyone looking for a new cleanser!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The best cleanser [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is easily one of the best cleansers I have ever used. Since first buying last year it has become my regular first cleanse and has improved my skin so much as I have suffered with adult acne for several years. The texture is a little strange when you put it on (like washing with Vaseline) but now I love to spend time massaging it in before adding water to make it milky and rinsing with a muslin cloth and following with a second cleanser. Kind on eyes and easily removes a full face of makeup. Seriously the best priced cleansing balm I have used, I love it. Quality product and great for anyone with dry and acne prone skin.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best First Cleanse This balm is the best I’ve ever used for a first cleanse, and I’ve been on the hunt for at least two years. It emulsifies beautifully, I cleanse for around one minute, rinse off with water before going in for my second cleanse, and honestly, all signs of make up and SPF are gone. My skin feels clean and healthy, not dehydrated and stripped, and it’s so clean that I almost feel like I don’t need a second. I have combination, ageing, acne prone skin, that is slightly sensitive, and whilst gentle, this balm is super active, and I already see improvement to texture and tone after only a week. This is Holy Grail!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Effective first cleanser but burns my eyes It seems to be an effective first step cleanser, removes all my makeup/sunscreen. It doesn't really rinse off, but after washing it off with Cera-ve foaming cleanser, it leaves my skin feeling soothed and protected. With just straight Cera-Ve, my face gets tight and burns. But the oat cleanser gets into my eyes and burns them and then continues to burn them for an hour or more after. Like it just can't get out of my eyes. Eye burning is a common problem for me with many many products, and who knows what the specific ingredient is. That's why I'm giving it 5 stars because other than that it works great. And if you're not sensitive to the specific thing that I am, you'll probably love it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Hydrating + effective I have dehydrated combination skin, most cleansers seem to dry me out which causes irritation and breakouts OR they make me too oily which causes lots of clogged pores! Yeah, my skin is difficult. I haven't had much luck with the Inkey List so far, but I do love my cleansers so gave this a go and I'm glad I did. It's great value for money, fragrance free, good at removing make up and hydrating. I had some difficulty getting it out of the squeeze tube as it's quite solid at first, but emulsified on contact with water. It leaves a bit of a film when it washes off, but that doesn't bother me. Hasn't caused any breakouts so far, for those looking for a squeaky clean feeling or with oily skin I would probably avoid. Otherwise it's definitely worth a try.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great For My Oily Makeup Face. I've been using the Oat Cleansing Balm for about a year now. I love it for removing my makeup. It's very gentle. But does a good thorough job of cleaning my makeup face. I use it as a first cleans. I also often use it as a first cleans, when I haven't been wearing a lot of makeup. (Just a bit of powder). This is because it does a really good job of cleaning my pores and preventing blackheads. I find it also helps to calm and smooth my skin. I have super oily acne prone skin. The Oat Cleansing Balm works perfect for me. As it has never broken me out. It does leave me with blurry vision sometimes. But it has never made my eyes sting. And because I love it so much, I will always continue using it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for sensitive skin! I have spot-prone, sensitive and combination skin. I finally found the perfect cleanser! My cheeks are very sensitive compared to the rest of my face and this calms any irritation. It removes even waterproof mascara so well and it doesn't sting or irritate my eyes. Would recommend this to anyone with sensitive skin. I use it both in the morning and evening and I love how it feels. INKEY suggests using it also as a nourishing mask. I have done this after using a clay mask and it makes my skin feel refreshed and hydrated.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from yesssssssss ....ish i like it, it is very effective at removing makeup and i like the tiny tiny amount of exfoliation which gets off dry skin build up (i do have to go in with a bit of micellar water on eye makeup afterwards though). what i would say is you defo need to have a stronger cleanser to go with it, cos i think my cleanser (la Roche-Posay Toleriane Dermo Cleanser 400ml) wasn't acc getting through the residue left by the cleansing balm and i started getting spots (the opposite of what i was trying to do!!!) defo a good cleansing balm (Hyram recommended it) but yeah make sure your cleanser is a bit stronger maybe - that la roche posay one is incredibly gentle and actually too gentle to pair with this balm

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Oat Clensing Balm Amazing product! There is no certain smell. Very pleasant thick consistency that melts into your skin without any force needed. Removes makeup with one apply and leaves the skin soft and hydrated. You really needs some small amount of this to get the job done. Very good for gentle double clense of the skin and you can leave it on a clean face for 10 min as face mask. This product is ''must have'' for me.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Awful reaction to this Tried this for the first time and loved it so repurchased when I'd finished my first bottle, I don't know what's gone wrong but I have had the most awful reaction to it! Straight after using it my face was on fire, it's broke me out so bad in the most painful cyst like spots on my chin and my cheeks are literally red raw, so dry and my skin is peeling and itching so bad it's bleeding and weeping. I've had acne and sensitive skin for over 20 years and it took so long to finally get it clear and no redness but now it's the worst it's ever looked, so itchy and painful and I feel so insecure. I loved this product initially but now I'm staying well away as my skin has never reacted to anything like this.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from exceeded expectations! [NOT A PAID REVIEW] saw this on tiktok and was a little skeptical but thought i’d give it a go. as a dancer its always difficult to find an effective makeup remover, ESPECIALLY one that can remove red lipstick!! however this product is actually PERFECT. it is absolutely completely true when it says it melts the makeup off your face with the gentlest touch, no need to scrub or work for ages to get the makeup off, it comes off instantly and leaves my skin feeling soft, smooth & clean. i’ve also noticed i have less spots now after wearing makeup since i began using this cleanser. i have recommended it to ALL my dancer friends. it is simply the best product on the market right now !! thank you Inkey List !!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Packaging ruins this product It pains me to give it 3 stars. The product itself is a 5 star product; it’s very hydrating, completely clears makeup and is great for my dry & sensitive skin. However, the packaging makes it so difficult to get the product out. When you’re reaching the bottom (another week or two of uses) you practically can not get product out, which is a huge waste. I have used this cleanser for a while but because of this issue I’m looking for another one as it’s more hassle than it is worth. Please consider improving the packaging so I can use this product again as it is one of my favourites.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not for me [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I'm sorry, I know this product is the darling of social media but I've been trying for a couple of weeks now and I hate it. My first issue is how difficult it is to get out of the tube. I don't have the strongest hands (it's an age thing) and I end up having to press it against a hard surface to even get to it. Secondly, the residue it leaves behind is awful. Luckily, I have other cleansers to get rid of that, but I don't have time for a double cleanse every morning before work. Does it cleanse? Yes. But I'm not prepared to fight with the packaging and then having the extra step of having to wash off the waxy residue it leaves behind. Won't be repurchasing.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from broke me out so bad!!!! This cleanser broke me out so bad my skin has never looked so horrible in my life. To preface my skin gets clogged fairly easily but mostly from moisturizers and never from cleaners. I wanted to try double cleaning to help clean off makeup and city pollution but this did not work for me at all. The first 2 times I used it everything was fine and my skin felt very soft and looked good. Then the third time I used it, everything went downhill. I started to notice dozens of tiny red pimples and whiteheads forming around my nose, smile lines, mouth, and chin and they just keep forming. It’s been over 5 days days of more and more pimples forming and I just hope my skin heals soon cause makeup can’t even cover this up.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A good makeup remover This product wasn't as great as I hoped but still a good product. It's good for all skin types and takes makeup off well without dehydrating or leaving your skin with that 'tight' feeling. If you do buy this remember to shake it because I didn't and I had it really thick to start with then there were some bits that were really runny. It also has some little bits in it that I'm not quite sure what they are there for but other than that it's a good product and good value for money.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great for sensitive, dehydrated skin Cleanses gently yet thoroughly, leaving skin soft. I've always been careful/lazy about washing my face twice a day as I have sensitive, dehydrated skin prone to hormonal breakouts. Other products would either be too aggressive and dry my skin out too much or not remove my make-up efficiently. But I love the oat cleansing balm so much that I use it in the mornings and evenings. It is odourless, creamy and melts into your skin. I'd leave a five star review if the packaging were more convenient. As it is currently designed, it's hard to squeeze the product out of the tube.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent first cleanse One of my favourite cleansing balms to remove sunscreen and (when I wear it) makeup! It also doubles up as a hydrating mask. As it is oil based, this is not meant to be used as a standalone cleanser and should be used as part of a double cleanse. When you first open the tube, you may find it difficult to squeeze the product out but it gets easier after the first couple of uses. Normally I would use a cleansing oil or balm on dry skin but the directions on this product say to dampen your skin before use. I have tried it on dry and damp skin and prefer using on slightly damp skin. It still works effectively to break down my sunscreen before I emulsify and move onto my second cleanse. It feels great when gently rubbing into the face and neck for 60 seconds and is easily removed after with a gel cleanser. It does not cause my combination, acne prone skin any breakouts and I'm sure it has done amazing things for my pores and sebaceous filaments which are now much less noticeable too!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Mediocre cleanser I don't get the hype with this product. I was really excited to try this brand out and this product was a let down. I find it a bit mediocre at removing makeup (I was used to using cleaning oils). I have tried it on dry and dampen skin and the results are similar. I wear very light makeup and it doesn't remove it easily. The texture in my product is fine, although it is sometimes a bit gritty and I don't notice any scent. What bothers me though is that the box says it is a cleanser to remove makeup and at the same time, to avoid the eye area, which I find so off.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Saved my skin [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have been using these cleansers since February 2023, and my skin has improved so much, it is a lot more hydrated, healthier and brighter, while my acne and pimples have cleared up significantly. I've repurched this duo multiple times and used it along side hyaluronic acid serum everyday. I highly recommend these products as they are gentle but effective, and are great if you have been struggling with acne like me. The first 2 photos were taken when i started using these cleaners, and the last 2 are a year later.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The best! Yall - this is not a one-step cleanser. I think some people are confused based on some of the reviews I've read. This is STEP ONE for a TWO-STEP cleansing routine. You use this product to remove your makeup and sunscreen first, then AFTER, you'll cleanse with your normal water-based cleanser. With that said, this is an amazing cleansing balm. I've tried several (like Clinique, Farmacy, Naturium, etc) and this one is my favorite, not to mention it's very affordable! I like the balm texture (tip: warm it up in your hands before use and apply it to dry skin first, then after working it in, add water to emulsify). I find that it removes my makeup without any irritation or breakouts and it's very gentle on the eye area. 10/10

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Ex-Lover I’ve been so in love with this product but when I used my new tube tonight and washed my face there were a lot of tiny white chunks/balls in the balm! I tried to dissolve them by rubbing my hands together or with water but they just wouldn’t and it almost seems like they are made of plastic. I got some in my eyes and they were irritated right away , I almost didn’t get them out! The inkey list replied to similar reviews that the formulation hasn‘t changed and it is due to the temperature but this gentle cleansing balm turned into a hard core physical exfoliant :(

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great as a first cleanse. This is my third bottle so it's definitely a good one! I feel it's great for removing sunscreen and makeup and because you can use it as a mask i can take my time massaging it into my skin before rinsing it off. I find most cleansers make my skin feel dry so this is a bonus. The reason this is 4* is because I am unable to use as a main cleanser. I have oily, acne prone skin and when I rinse this off I feel it leaves a residue and it caused breakouts when I tried. I therefore always use a second cleanser after. I also can't leave it in my bathroom (it must be warmer than the rest of the house) because it melts inside the tube which can get quite messy when you squeeze some onto your hand. Won't stop me from using it though!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice cleanser I liked this product for a first or morning cleanse. Removed make up well and left skin feeling soft / nourished. Other reviews have described a gritty / scrub like texture to the cleanser, I didn’t find this so may be dependent on storage. There was some separation on warmer days but to be expected with an oil cleanser and easily fixed. Other reviews have also described issues with the packaging, this wasn’t a problem for me until I came towards the end of the product then it was a bit difficult squeeze out. All in all a nice oil cleanser at a reasonable price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A gentle cleanser while repairing my barrier I love the oat cleansing balm. My combination, easily irritated (reactive) and sensitive skin adores this product. It is so soothing and relieves a lot of the redness, itching, and dry/ flaky symptoms of a damaged skin barrier (which I likely got from over-exfoliating). The cleansing balm was a product I didn't know I needed and now cannot imagine not using it daily. It removes all traces of SPF and make-up easily, and I genuinely look forward to coming home to use this product. It can leave a residue, however, I just need to use a gentle water-based cleanser or a face towel (soaked in lukewarm water) to resolve this. I look forward to moving onto other Inkey List products in the future to give my skin a bright, dewy look.

I'm worried I would be over-stripping my skin since I use a water based cleanser that contains Salicylic acid & also use the Paula's choice 2% BHA exfoliant. Would this be too much to add to my routine?

Asked by: Anonymous
This cleanser would be soothing because it contains oats. I would consider using just one product containing BHA to ensure you don't damage your skin barrier. I have several cleansers at a higher price point but always have this cleanser because it is fab
