The INKEY List Retinol Serum helps to stimulate the renewal processes in the skin resulting in brighter, smoother skin.

A derivative of Vitamin A, Retinol helps to promote skin renewal and enhance collagen production.

As we get older the rate at which our skin renews itself slows. Retinol works beneath the skin surface at a cellular level to promote cell renewal and repair processes so that newer cells reach the surface quicker.

Stimulating these renewal processes in the skin makes Retinol a powerful ingredient for reversing signs of ageing as well as improving overall skin clarity for a healthy-looking complexion.

Using Retinol can aid with a number of skin concerns such as reducing the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, uneven skin tone and pigmentation issues making it an all round must have for healthy looking skin.

Retinol acts to:
- Target wrinkles
- Reduce the appearance of wrinkles
- Reduce fine lines
- Even skin tone

INKEY Info:
- Slow release formula for low irritating, effective active delivery
- 1% RetiStar stabilised Retinol
- 0.5% Granactive Retinoid
- Squalane for hydration and soothing
- Suitable for all skin types

Retinol is the gold standard of skincare ingredients and offers a whole host of benefits. Whilst Retinol is famed for it's ability to fight signs of ageing, it can be benefit all ages. Starting use in the mid-twenties can have huge benefits for the skin.

Retinol is often associated with irritation, flakiness and redness when first introducing the product, however new technologies now enable us to formulate Retinol products that offer maximum efficacy with minimal irritation.

When using with other products:
- Vitamin C
INKEY does not recommend using Retinol and Vitamin C at the same time. It is best to use Retinol in the PM, so if using a Vitamin C INKEY would recommend using this in the morning. As it has antioxidant properties this is when you will get the most out of the product.
- AHAs (Glycolic, Alpha Hydroxy, Lactic Acid)
If you are also using an AHA in your evening routine, and want to add a Retinol, INKEY suggest building up to using your Retinol nightly and using acids weekly or if you want to use your acid more regularly alternating with Retinol. If you do wish to use both on the same day, due to PH levels INKEY would recommend waiting around 20 minutes before applying your Retinol and be careful of overuse as both increase skin renewal and may cause sensitivity.

The INKEY List recommend using Retinol from age 25+, or when the first signs of ageing begin to show.

Directions

Use in the PM after cleansing and toning and before other serums. Apply a pea sized amount to the fingers and gently tap into the skin.

Start every other or every third evening and build up to using every night. Use consistently for maximum results.

Works well with: Niacinamide, Rosehip Oil.
Avoid mixing with: Vitamin C, Alpha Hydroxy Acid, Glycolic Acid, Lactic Acid.

Warnings: Avoid the immediate eye area. May increase sun sensitivity, always use a broad-spectrum sunscreen during the day.

Whilst THE INKEY LIST Retinol has a low irritation formula, for some people redness and flakiness may occur at the beginning of use due to the increase in cell turnover. When first introducing Retinol, you may wish to use a few times per week and gradually increase to every evening.
External use only.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good for starting use of retinol Kind of don't want to sing this products praises too much because I hate when stuff I like goes out of stock but yes this is a good serum. I've only been using a few weeks and already see and feel improvement to lines, plumpness and general glow. This is the first retinol product I've ever used and I didn't have the reaction/flaking I've read about when using retinol (although I used layered on niacinamide serum) so I think it may have quite a low retinol content. Would be good for people starting out using it but might not be so effective if you've already been using a higher strength retinol product or perhaps more mature skin.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love it! This is just lovely. Great texture, spreads very well and only slight irritation on the first week. I was using 0.5% retinol from The Ordinary before, but this feels superior. Skin looks much better. Only gripe is the solution is a little bit runny for the type of tube it's in so it leaks a bit if you store it lid-down. Don't want to waste a drop so I just store it upside down.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Game. Changer. This is my first retinol product, I was a bit sceptical because of the price point, but wow! No irritation whatsoever upon application. I apply this at night, a little goes a long way. Then I put TO HA lotion. I know this works because the next morning, there’s a bit of flakiness, nothing serious, in fact, this tells me it’s working. I then wash with a gentle oil cleanser, apply TO HA serum, moisturizer, and an spf 30 on top. Yes, I can tell it’s working, my skin seems a lot firmer, bouncy, and radiant. Excellent product and highly recommend. I am 55, with dry skin, and this did not irritate in any way. Great job, fantastic product, bravo The Ordinary!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent! Been using this for a little over 12 weeks. It sinks in quickly, didn't give me any irritation and a little goes a long way. The results are really good. My fine lines are definitely less visible and my skin is so plump and healthy looking. It evened out my oily t-zone too. Most definitely repurchasing this.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love it! I tried another big brand retinol and found the purging too stressful! I purged slightly with this, I used to get 1 spot a week it went up to about 2 and in places I’ve not had them since I was a teenager!! I switched to using it every other day and used lots of water gel moisturiser and I’m now at about 4 months and my skin is so much cleaner, clearer, brighter and I honestly think the lines are decreasing too! The smell isn’t great, but I think that is just retinol!!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Smell and consistency has changed Used to love this product. Previous batches had a barely noticeable fragrance and improved the consistency of my skin as desired. I have tried 3 more recently produced batches and all have this new sickly sweet overpowering smell. The new batches also have a different consistency and colour. More runny and bright yellow compared to the thicker, mildly yellow/cream colour of previous batches. Not sure if it’s a packaging change causing these issues or if it’s a formula change, but it’s the same for each new batch number I tried.. I personally find the smell too strong to continue to use it. I would not recommend this product.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Retinol serum from THE INKEY LIST This is not my first retinol serum, I have previously used two serums from other brands that are considered premium that are much more expensive .. They did not yield significant results relative to the expensive price I paid for them, the retinol serum of the inkey list in my opinion a good choice at a reasonable and fair price .. The texture is not liquid and relatively thick, comfortable to apply and well absorbed, does not cause irritation or dryness at all, I do not know yet how effective this serum is because I have only been using it for a week but I really liked the product and I will order it again

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good product, weird packaging. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I liked the retinol serum itself, I really saw a difference in the texture of my skin. It also helped keep my breakouts at bay! However, it wasn't really working to fade my acne scars, which is my main reason for using a retinoid in the first place. The packaging also makes this product very difficult to use; the product itself is runny, and it comes out of the container super fast, so I end up using way too much product at one time. I think it should come in a pump or something, kind of like their Vitamin C with EGF. It also smells weird at first, but I got over it.

Hi, I have acne prone skin. I am left with dark scarring, does this product help reduce scars? Thanks

Asked by: Saalehah
It will do, but it would take a long time as this is a very low percentage of Retinol.

Is this product suitable for vegetarians?

Asked by: Anonymous
Hi there, Here's a statement from The Inkey List in regards to their products: "We do not test on animals and there are no animal derivatives in the product ingredients and is therefore suitable for vegetarians. However we are very transparent that although there are no animal derivatives, we are not yet currently certified vegan. In order to state that we are Vegan not only do we have to ensure there are no animal derived ingredients in our final product, but also in the testing and manufacturing processes for the final product and it's ingredients. As soon as any of our products are certified vegan we'll share this information." Hope this helps! Many thanks Katie, Beauty Expert.
